<p>Lorsque Google affiche les pages de votre site dans ses pages de résultat de recherche (<a href="produits/simulateur-serp-google.htm#SERP-definition" title="Définition du terme SERP"><strong>SERP</strong></a>: <strong>S</strong>earch <strong>E</strong>ngine <strong>R</strong>esults <strong>P</strong>ages) il affiche une partie du contenu de la page elle-même en rapport avec la recherche. Cet ensemble qui constitue une mini fiche de présentation de votre page est appelé <strong>Snippet</strong>.</p>
<p>Il comprend un <strong>titre</strong> (pas forcément celui de la page), <strong>une description</strong> (pas forcément le meta tag description de votre page) et une <strong>url</strong> (qui peut être tronquée selon la longueur). Peuvent venir en plus des informations d'enrichissement comme la date de mise à jour ou de publication, une note avec des étoiles dans le cas de notation d'article ou de produit, une photo dans le cas d'un produit ou d'un évènement, un prix une disponibilité etc.</p>
<p>Le titre est souvent mais pas toujours pris à partir de votre <strong>tag <title></strong> et l'extrait est souvent pris de votre <strong>meta description</strong>. Google n'affiche pas forcément votre titre et description. En fait il va chercher a afficher le titre et le contenu le plus proche de la requête de l'utilisateur en allant chercher dans le contenu de votre page.</p>
<p>Google limite actuellement le <strong>titre à 600 pixels</strong> et non un nombre de caractères. Cepandant dans les faits on constate rarement plus de <strong>60 caractères,</strong> et rarement au delà de <strong>580 pixels</strong>. La <strong>description est limitée à 930 pixels</strong> sur deux lignes. <h2 id="SERP-definition">SERP : définition</h2>
<p><b>SERP</b> est l'acronyme anglophone de "<strong>S</strong>earch <strong>E</strong>ngine <strong>R</strong>esults <strong>P</strong>ages" couramment utilisé par les professionnels du référencement naturel et de l’Internet en général. Ce terme désigne la page de résultats de recherche présentée par les moteurs de recherche en réponse à une recherche d’un internaute (le terme requête est également souvent employé). La page de résultat se présente sous forme de liste de liens. Ces liens sont enrichis par des informations permettant d’indiquer à l’internaute la « pertinence » de la page cible. Ces informations varient en fonction du contenu de la page, mais à minima chaque lien aura :</p>

Une <strong>bonne pratique</strong> serait donc de limiter la méta description à environ <strong>140 caractères</strong>. Pour le titre nous avons constaté un maximum de 65 carctères mais qui ne doit pas dépasser 599 pixels.
